Rasheed is a wretched man! He attacked me and Mariam for trying to leave. His anger and violence were the reasons we wanted to leave to begin with. I love Aziza and as her mother, I need to protect her, but here I don't know how. Rasheed has locked Mariam in the shed and Aziza and me in the bedroom. We have no light and we have not been given food or water. I am so worried about Aziza that I don't have time to worry about myself. I constantly check tomake sure her little lungs are still breathing. I don't know how much longer we both can make it. The heat is baking us alive! I can't even feel the pain from the beating. We are going to die here. Aziza still has so much to live! I can't watch her die! I can't even move. I just need to sleep.
